Pig Rearing
LARGE WHITE YORKSHIRE

- Entirely white in color, black pigment spots called “freckles” present.
- High in litter size with 11-12 and posses good mothering quality.
Live wt: boar 300-400 kg and sow 230-320 kg
BERKSHIRE

- Body medium – good width, length and depth with broad back.
- Black color, six white tips-one at end of each leg and one each on snout, tail
- Produce good quality meat, least tendency to deposit fat
LANDRACE

- Produces high quality bacon in the world
- Heavy lop ears, square ham
- These are susceptible to sunburn
DUROC

- Moderately red colored with shades varying from golden to cherry red color
- Fecundity is good. Excellent milkers. Live wt: boar: 400 kg, sow 350 kg
HEREFORD

- White head including ears, feet, underline, switch of tail. The remainder of the body is red in color.
- Mature body weight: 360 Kg: Boar, 270 kg: sow
TAMWORTH

- Golden red color
- Carcass produces bacon on finest quality
- Live wt: boar 350 kg, sows 250-300 kg
DUROC

- Moderately red colored with shades varying from golden to cherry red color
- Fecundity is good. Excellent milkers. Live wt: boar: 400 kg, sow 350 kg

CHESTER WHITE

- White color breed with some bluish spots sometimes found on skin.
- It is medium breed with all good qualities.

- Produces carcass with large loin eyes with very little back fat
YORKSHIRE

- White color with black freckles
- Long body, erect ears, large litters, good mothering ability
- Good feeding efficiency and rapid growth to use as bacon-type hogs
